Why choose the PRC?

Whether you are an administration assistant, finance manager, a researcher early in your career or an experienced senior researcher, all staff at the PRC have the opportunity to contribute to better parenting.

The PRC aims to create a positive and rewarding work experience for all of its employees. We achieve this by providing a range of contemporary, innovative and flexible work conditions.

Flexible working arrangements

Flexibility is our competitive advantage. Our work systems have been established to support flexible working arrangements as we believe that a positive work-life balance is fundamental to a happy, healthy and productive workplace.

We have part-time and job-share arrangements, working from home arrangements, as well as a fully mobile ‘work anywhere’ option with an individual laptop and work mobile phone. And we have flexible annual leave so that you can purchase additional leave each year.

We also provide one additional week of leave each year which we call ‘company leave’. This means that all staff have a total of five weeks of leave each year.

Interesting and stimulating work

No matter who you talk to at the PRC, the number one reason for working here is the work that we do and having the sense that our efforts make a difference to the lives of parents and families.

A fun, friendly, dynamic and progressive working environment

Our people are fun to work with and relationships are important. We think workplace culture and environment is so important that we present an annual award called the Douglas Marshall Award to acknowledge employees who have made a positive contribution to the PRC.

We have a dynamic environment where new opportunities are always on the rise. What makes the PRC a great place is that its people are genuinely passionate about the work they do.

An open and modern work space with state-of-the-art facilities

Our head office is located on the city fringe in East Melbourne which makes us easily accessible. Our work space is open plan; not even our CEO has his own office! We have a chill out space overlooking the rooftops of Fitzroy, as well as meeting rooms of different sizes with various technologies to accommodate individuals or groups.

We also have another office in East Melbourne and an office in Sydney.

Whether you are working from home or on the road or one of our offices, we have established systems that support you and help you keep in touch with us about your work needs.

Career development and training opportunities

We know professional development and training opportunities are going to mean we attract and retain the best people. Our annual performance development system is not about you doing your job to a satisfactory standard. It is about your aspirational goals: Where do you want to be in 12 months? In two years? What are your professional development needs? How can we support you to reach these goals?

We also provide a comprehensive orientation and induction program, conference attendance and regular ‘brown bag’ lunch sessions which are informal on-site information sessions on research and programs.

Our latest innovation is the Alan Hudson Research Award for research papers that are published – this auspicious award provides financial support towards your academic career.

Services and benefits

We offer an additional week of leave each year that we call company leave. This means our employees have 5 weeks leave each year. We also offer staff the option to purchase additional leave (50/52).

The PRC has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees and their family members to access 24 hours, either over the telephone, on-line or face-to-face counselling and support services.

Other services and benefits include garaged bike racks and a public transport scheme.
