Parenting a child with a life-threatening illness

Parents of children with life-threatening illnesses are taking part in a study that might help prevent emotional and social turmoil. Parents have begun our parent program Take a Breath which is designed to help them deal with the stress of caring for a child with a serious illness. Read the Herald Sun article Parents escape from a dark place to learn more about the benefits that families are already reporting.

Our study will help us see whether a parent support program can improve adjustment and reduce distress in parents of children with a serious illness or injury. The study is being conducted in collaboration with the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.

MyTime for Grandparents on the telly

MyTime for Grandparents had a boost of publicity following the official launch in December 2011. Channel 10 ran a news story that highlighted the important role of peer support for grandparents who meet to discuss issues that affect their lives and share ideas with others who understand their caring role.
