We’re thrilled to have successfully delivered the new model practice governance framework for ACWA and Fams: a guide for community-based child and family services.
During 2024, Fams, ACWA and the Parenting Research Centre teamed up to develop this guide for developing a practice governance framework for ACWA and Fams member organisations.
Practice governance is an approach that organisations can use to maintain and improve high-quality practice, leading to stronger outcomes for families and communities. It creates a powerful ‘line of sight’ between what an organisation is doing and the outcomes they seek to achieve. The guide addresses a crucial gap in the social services sector, enhancing boards’ understanding of on-the-ground practice and enabling them to make strategic decisions informed by practice data.
The guide serves as a model that can be used by each member organisation to develop a practice governance framework that reflects their unique service user and community needs, environment, and ways of working. It is intended to help those who are just starting out on the practice governance journey, as well as those seeking to review and strengthen their approach. The guide also aims to create a shared language and ideas for the sector to further enhance collaboration.
We’re so proud of this model practice governance framework that Fams and ACWA member organisations can now use to elevate practice and achieve stronger outcomes for the children and families they support.
