The Parenting Research Centre is part of a new national initiative exploring ways to strengthen one of the most important environments in shaping children’s development – the home.

In partnership with Playgroup Victoria and Our Place, we are laying the groundwork for a new national Early Home Learning Environment (EHLE) Network that will connect organisations, mobilise knowledge, and bring together efforts to improve the design and effectiveness of supports that strengthen the home learning environment for young children.

As part of the establishment phase funded by the Ian Potter Foundation, the focus will be on:

  • identifying relevant organisations, communities, researchers and practitioners
  • mapping current EHLE programs/innovations from across Australia
  • identifying scalable, evidence-informed approaches that can support families
  • building a shared strategy for national action and system-level change
  • laying the groundwork for the EHLE Network, which will share knowledge, advocate, support adaptation and implementation,
    and foster innovation.

Organisations working with parents, caregivers and communities involved in early home learning are invited to participate in the initial phase of work. Expressions of interest in participating can be submitted via this form.

Participation is free and voluntary, and participants will receive a collaboratively developed profile of their program to support planning, partnerships and communication.
